What Pressotherapy Is
Many women look for an effective solution to water retention issues.
Pressotherapy is just what they need:
an aesthetic treatment that improves the functioning of the circulatory system and the lymphatic system in the person undergoing it.
Lymphatic drainage massage consists of applying external pressure to the area to be treated, using equipment specifically designed for this task.
Why do we use it?
Pressotherapy, also known as pressomassage, is a therapeutic treatment widely used in both medical and aesthetic fields. It is based on external pressure applied by a specific device to the patient’s limbs and abdomen, in order to improve the subject’s lymphatic and venous circulation. Thanks to this simulation of a manual massage, the body will also be able to expel toxins and waste more easily.
Pressomassage can be an excellent aid to counter swelling of the lower limbs and “orange-peel” skin (among the various causes of cellulite we in fact recall an alteration of lymphatic and venous circulation). From the very first session, it is possible to feel a general sense of well-being and lightness in the lower limbs.
Today, pressotherapy machines are one of the key aesthetic devices for the treatment of cellulite imperfections.
The massage performed with pressotherapy can effectively drain fluids that, due to altered circulation, have accumulated in the interstitial spaces of tissues (a phenomenon known as water retention), changing the shape of the legs.
In this way it is possible to reduce a whole series of imperfections and issues that derive from fluid stagnation, namely:
cellulite
fat deposits
swollen legs
tissue hypotonia
Pressotherapy, in fact, can be considered a true detoxifying and regenerating treatment that supports weight loss and promotes an overall state of well-being. In addition to aesthetic results, it relaxes the patient and gives a pleasant feeling of lightness.
Pressotherapy, whose effectiveness has been widely recognized by the scientific community, is a treatment that, with proper indications, does not hurt and consists of applying external pressure to the areas of the body to be treated (generally the abdomen and lower limbs) through a specific device. The latter, as we recall, allows the so-called applicators to inflate intermittently and sequentially, i.e., leg sleeves that wrap the areas involved in the treatment. This mechanical massage can, in a short time, reactivate and make lymphatic and venous circulation more efficient. It should also be said that the pressure intensity can be adjusted according to the needs of the moment in order to make the massage performed by the machine more effective.
No special preparation is required for the patient undergoing pressotherapy.
But how does a pressotherapy session take place in detail? The therapist, after seating the patient on a dedicated couch, proceeds with manual drainage of the collection centers of the lymphatic system in order to allow reabsorption of the fluids present in the tissue interstices and then, at a later stage, to encourage their backflow toward the main lymphatic station. This massage performed by the specialist, in addition to stimulating the emptying of the lymph node stations, also has a pleasant relaxing and anti-stress effect. The therapist then positions the applicators on the area of interest and connects them to the electronic pressotherapy device. The applicators, we recall, which generally have an anatomical shape so they can be comfortably worn by the patient, are compression chambers used to wrap the limbs or the abdominal area. When the operator switches on the electronic device, the various applicators inflate in an orderly sequence, i.e., starting from the most peripheral areas up to the central zones.
Pressotherapy, as we have already said at length, produces a whole series of benefits that can positively affect both the individual’s health and physical appearance. In summary, we can say that this therapeutic method helps to:
Improve lymphatic and venous circulation
Eliminate excess fluids
Tone the muscles
Reduce lymphatic edema in the limbs
Reduce abdominal bloating
